2018 ISS R&D Conference photo gallery
Five US Finalist teams gathered at the International Space Station Research & Development Conference in San Francisco, CA from July 24th through July 26th, 2018. Along with Genes in Space sponsors, mentors, teachers, judges and family they celebrated their accomplishments as Genes in Space Finalists and were welcomed into the Genes in Space team.
The conference started with a Genes in Space technical session. All five Genes in Space winners presented data from the experiments they conducted aboard the International Space Station. The Finalists were also congratulated by Astronaut Mark Vande Hei and who presented their Genes in Space awards.
On Wednesday, July 25th the Finalist teams presented their proposals to a panel of judges as well as an audience that included Astronaut Randy Bresnik. Once the presentations were completed the Finalists celebrated with a trip to the Exploratorium and a Genes in Space reception hosted by Genes in Space sponsor, New England Biolabs. On Thursday, July 26th, the conference concluded with the announcement of the winning team.
