Genes in Space workshop in the Clear Creek Independent School District
Clear Creek Independent School District near Houston, Texas recently hosted a Genes in Space workshop. Teachers from across the district gathered at Clear Falls High School for a full-day, hands-on Genes in Space workshop. Instructors Robert Dennison and Emily Gleason introduced teachers to Genes in Space and guided them through a hands-on activity using PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, and gel electrophoresis. It was a busy and exciting day and we hope the educators who participated left with the skills needed to mentor their students as they develop their own Genes in Space proposals.
One of the many fun surprises during the workshop was that we got to meet Clear Falls High School teacher Deborah Borrmann who mentored 2015 Genes in Space Honorable Mention winning student Kushal Kadakia. It's always an honor to meet a member of the Genes in Space community in person!
We would like to thank Lisa Wooley and Paige Newman of the Clear Creek Independent School District for hosting and organizing the workshop and Clear Falls High School teacher John Hite for hosting us in his classroom for the day. This workshop was sponsored by miniPCR and Boeing.
